The Moose Jaw Animal Clinic first opened its doors on September 27, 1955. It was started by Dr. Scott Starrak and Dr. Rex McCallum. The clinic was first located on the northeast corner of Manitoba Street West and 3rd Avenue NorthWest . Dr. McCallum was a pilot who used his plane to reach some of the farthest areas of their practice. While it may not have been practical cost-wise, it did allow him to get the required hours of flight to keep his license current! The Moose Jaw Animal Clinic has had to relocate and renovate quite a few times over the years to meet the changing needs of the practice. The location at 302 Manitoba Street West was expanded in the 70's to allow for hospitalization space for small animals and calves, and to create a workable area for large animals to come into the clinic. Most of you have attempted to back into that chute space at one time or another and know how difficult that area was to use! Many vets have come and gone over the years. Some have bought into the practice, and some were content to remain associates. Every one of them has brought a unique perspective to the clinic. We hope to be able to provide you with a glimpse into our past through photos and biographies. Please stay tuned for updates in this area!
